Breathe the atmosphere of centuries past by shopping at Getreidegasse. Altstadt's most famous shopping street features dozens of shops. Browse through jewelry, the latest fashions, antiques, leather, paper goods, perfumes, and a delicatessen. Along the street, you'll also find high, narrow houses tightly nestled together. Pay attention to the skillfully crafted guild signs above restaurants, shops, and workshops. You can walk by the birth house of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at Getreidegasse 9, where the great composer lived until he was 17. Do not miss the famous "puppet woman"  with her brown basket, who has been selling puppets since 1987. • While there are tourists on the street at any time, deserves much worthwhile stroll through it and out of alleys that lead to several patios and other nearby streets.

  • Louis Vuitton, Red Bull, Douglas, North Sea, Zara, Massimo Dutti etc etc - name interchangeable as required all decades. Getreidegasse has hardly any shops that it originally had. Blessedly transfigured each Salzburg will think of the "Vienna bakery', there are fish now. But clearly, if only through the rental income, 40,000 Euros / month to take are, I'll sell more no buns, but make me a good life. What remains are beautiful views E.g. in the small lanes towards age market or against the Mönchsberg.

  • even when you've walked all over it, if you're not doing anything, you're going to end up coming back to this emblematic street of Salzburg. Very medieval, with shops of all kinds and with good restaurants and konditoreis. many valley hiking. Always full of tourists. Take care with the timetables, because with full Street, everything closes too early.
