The fresh water is provided by the Obernberger Seebach subterranean springs. Around the lake are travel paths. There was a prehistoric rock fall from the Obernberger Tribulaun . The lake is now separated into two parts, however in late spring and early summer the water level rise and the parts can get connected. On the rocks a chapel was built in 1935.The lake has a high quality on the surface and is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes of Tyrol. On the bottom of the lake is a curtain of algae making the water muddy at 13 metres. Bathing is prohibited, so that the fish population and the quality of the water remains untouched. Trout and other fish live in the lake.DetailsWater temperature: 11 - 14 °CWater level fluctuation: 7m

  • Good!
  • Has been here many times and is always very beautiful. If there are many benches to go round the lake you have to have sturdy shoe work on. It is worth a visit.

  • From the starting point parking lot Obernberger See you hike about 45 min. steadily up to the Obernberger Lakes. Nature lovers can expect an impressive spectacle of colours of turquoise water, intense green meadows, dark forests in front of beautiful mountain scenery. A circular walk around the lakes is completed in a comfortable 90 min., the way back to the parking lot in about 30 min. The hike lasts a total of about 3 hours and is also suitable for "beginners".
