#3 of 135 in Outdoors in Tirol
Ski Area Nature / Park
The biggest glacier ski resort in Austria, Stubaier Gletscher, guarantees snow for eight complete months. Pair that with your choice of 35 ski runs, ranging from novice to challenging and totaling 110 km (68 mi) in length, and you have an excellent reason to click on skis or a snowboard. Nestled in the Alps at altitudes between 1,750 m (5740 ft) and 3,210 m (10,530 ft), the resort features 26 lifts and cable cars. See how you do on the 10 km (6 mi) continuous run, which starts at the top of the mountain and ends in the lowest valley of the resort. Check out the man-made snow park for snowboarders and freeskiers, which includes easy, medium, and pro terrains. Numerous ski runs and games for children are available. • Our coach trip got the local bus from neustift free with our stubai card. We went up the first part in the large cable car (I don't like heights but it was fine) we went up so far and got on the small...  more »
  • Nice to go so high in the alps, but from the gletscher itself is not so much to see. Possibility to make a nice walk on top. Cable lift is for free with the subaiercard.  more »
  • We took the bus to the bottom of the Eisgrat lift and got tickets all the way to the top. We were planning to walk down the glacier but were discouraged from doing so by the cashier at the bottom, adv...  more »

  • Great slopes for beginners and a good park for those wanting to be a bit more adventurous. Excellent lift systems to get you around. Lots of parking spaces and a good bus system up from Neustift. Be aware it gets very busy on the drive up to the glacier and can take over an hour!
  • The snow wasn't all that good, but it was a very surprising experience to ski here at the end of may during the last days of the season.
  • Good range of runs with very efficient lifts. Perfect blue sky's and snow wasn't too icy at all. Very soft and so large that doesn't feel very busy. Would recommend a few days here.
  • A few facts for you to make your own call: It's 11:02 AM on May 5th 2017. Do you see a single groomer? Nope, they all left for the garage as soon as did the Austrians and Germans from the long weekend. Never mind that the ski pass is still at normal price.
  • Outstanding skiing, stunning scenery and excellent selection for all levels. Can go nonstop for 10+ km. One of the first glacier skiing in Austria and it was very much memorable. Never had any issue with snow, always great, skied in Dec and Mar. Lifts are very good and fast, great selection for food and drinks.
