Amethyst Welt Maissau Reviews
Die Faszination eines Gesteins - hier leicht verständlich und zum Anfassen präsentiert. An diesem Ort bekommt man nicht nur einen einmaligen Einblick in ein Weltweit anerkanntes geologisches Naturwund... more »The fascination of a rock - presented here easy to understand and to be touched. In this place, you get not only a unique insight into a world recognized geological wonders of in Austria but is also a place where it is easily possible to come to rest. There is a large outdoor area to let off steam for all families with children and anyone can dabble as a treasure hunter and carry themselves the valuable Rock light (and of course also with home play). The guides are easy to understand and are limited to the essentials, so that it will not be bored. In our shop there is apart from Amethyst to acquire various other precious stones - advice included.
There are two tours. 1, History of the Amethyst and the "Schaustollen". The first part the history is a video and totally forgettable, it is in German and you get a piece of paper with English explana... more »
Even if one has ever enjoyed the leadership, is the affiliated shop can be visited without paying admission, a visit worth! You will find a wide variety of different stones (voluptuous etc., all with description) or many pieces of jewellery and other gifts made of semiprecious stones. There are also products of nearby Konditorei Lebzelterei Schmid. For children there is an own Schürffeld, where you can search themselves for stones. A nice coffee, which offers local products and is waiting with a sidewalk café in the summer is connected to the shop. In the surrounding area there are many hiking trails (Manhartsberg - 537m high) or pay a visit to the nearby Lavender village Unterdürnbach of only downside: toilet in the Amethyst world in Maissau is unfortunately in the basement and is only accessible by a staircase!
Me and my family love it. you get to dig for yourself for amethysts, which is pretty cool, specially for kids. Also, you can visit the (fake)mine which is pretty impressive. The outdoor garden is beautiful and you can spend hours there. Also: the playground rocks! All in all: good for a whole day trip.
Really interesting amethyst mine, with exhibitions.Unforgettable experience for children to dig out their own precious gemstones.
A nice place for a weekend visit, especially if you are with kids. The guided tours in the mine and the exhibition are only in german. Very interesting attraction for the kids is to dig for minerals. The gardens are also nice and free for access.
Nice place for family trip. Guided tours are not in English what is such a shame. Personal mining experience was the best.
Don't go there if you prefer a scientific approach to minerals. They had this strange nostalgic-esoteric focus, like lecturing you about which nobleman attributed which healing power to the stones and whatnot.. Might be fun for the kids, who can dig for minerals, but for us it was kind of a let-down.
