Aussichtsturm Pyramidenkogel, Keutschach am See

Overlooking the turquoise blue lakes, rolling green hills, and Alpine peaks in the distance stands Aussichtsturm Pyramidenkogel, an observation tower 847 m (2,779 ft) tall. The unusual structure originated in 1950, but later evolved to its current state, made of wood and steel. Hard to miss, the tower's corkscrew design appears a bit wobbly and is topped by three observation platforms at varying heights. Ascend by spiral staircase or glass elevator to any of the three platforms. The interior of the tower features a tube slide, so grab a potato sack and slide on down to the bottom. There, you'll find a full restaurant where you can refuel. • We were on holiday in Kranjska Gora for the New Year 2018. On 1st January we decided to cross over to nearby Austria and visit the Pyramidenkogel observation tower. It is just an hour drive via the Ka...  more »
  • If you decide to go, choose well the day, it must be sunny otherwise you don't see nothing. Go up to 70 metres high, you see the 3 lakes, we went in late January and 2 of them were icy, when there are several points of rest, but once at the top you are rewarded for everything. For the descent, you can either walk back or with the chute (4 euros to be paid below). The elevator was broken, so if you're planning to go there soon and you don't want to do the steps, calls.

  • Who has not yet visited the Tower must do it simply. Breathtaking vision of the beautiful Carinthia. Stunning wood and steel construction what is also perfectly passable on foot.

  • Magnificent views over the Wörthersee at a total height of around 900m above sea level (incl approximately 65 meter tower height = level 12). All levels will take a total of 458 stairs. Elevator will go to level 10. Last two levels (upper decks) per stairway only. Level 10 is completely shielded by windows. All other levels are open air. Impressive wood and steel construction. If you are around, you absolutely need to visit this superb attraction.
  • Very interesting structure. We took the slide from the top of the building. It was ok not super exciting but the views are! Definitely worth to go up!
  • Amazing piece of wood and steel engineering. This is explained on the boards in front of the tower. Closes when lightning is expected. There are stairs and there is an elevator. The views are nice, the kids loved the slide. (The shop, restaurant and playground are nothing special. )
  • Nice when you do not want to hike to the hill as there is a big parking lot on the top of the hill. Nice sighseeing tower with the lift to the top. Didnt try the slide, will do next time. ;)
  • Loved it every time! Beautiful point of viewing everything around! Kärnten monument indeed! You have to pay an entrance fee and you can take the stairs (many 😅) or the elevator.
