Aussichtsturm Pyramidenkogel, Keutschach am See

#3 of 129 in Things to do in Carinthia
Overlooking the turquoise blue lakes, rolling green hills, and Alpine peaks in the distance stands Aussichtsturm Pyramidenkogel, an observation tower 847 m (2,779 ft) tall. The unusual structure originated in 1950, but later evolved to its current state, made of wood and steel. Hard to miss, the tower's corkscrew design appears a bit wobbly and is topped by three observation platforms at varying heights. Ascend by spiral staircase or glass elevator to any of the three platforms. The interior of the tower features a tube slide, so grab a potato sack and slide on down to the bottom. There, you'll find a full restaurant where you can refuel. Make Aussichtsturm Pyramidenkogel part of your personalized Keutschach am See itinerary using our Keutschach am See holiday planner.

We went on the pyramid to see the view and well worth the trip, we went up the stairs and then we went down the slide, beautiful although once we were a little thugs for the gyroscopic effect, however to visit if in the area.

Viewing tower situated on a hill that allows a 360 panorama of the Valley. There you can climb the stairs or elevator and descent if you want you can use a very long slide. Admission is free with the Carinthia card

took some american friends and family, everybody was dead impressed! there's a long slide in the center of the tower, a bit bumpy but fast and super fun. if you're in the region, the tower is a must-visit! both the view, as well as the architecture are one of a kind!

Brilliant views. Brilliant structure. Great price to get in. Parking terrible when busy. Still worth a visit any time you are near.

In the late sixties when I was young and Google maps didn't exist, I have ride down by my fathers bicycle. A "solder bike - Waffenrad". Quite heavy. No derailer. No way to climb up this mountain road. And the tower as it is today didn't exist. Anyway we enjoyed the overlook and have been proud on our biking performance. Just read in the local news that the tower, which is recognized in prime position of highest wooden towers in Europe will receive a light spectacle.
