Sigmund-Thun-Klamm, Kaprun
(4.7/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Explore the gorge that slices the Kaprun Valley in half at Sigmund-Thun-Klamm, created by a glacier over 14,000 years ago. The gorge measures 32 m (105 ft) at its deepest, and runs 320 m (1,050 ft) long, marked with rocky riverbanks, whirlpools, and holes. Explore the length of the gorge by a wooden walkway that hugs its side. As you ascend, take in the beauty of the waterfalls that rush below. At the top you'll find a picturesque lake with a reflection of the mountains in the distance. The walkway has stairs in many sections, requiring some basic physical skills, yet it is suitable for children; wear comfortable shoes with good traction. Note that the ascent and descent are two separate paths. Facilities are located at the halfway point. • Beautiful, but during the winter it is closed. Nature is amazing. Definitely worth a few euro and super walk.

  • Our family visited this klamm while staying in nearby Kaprun. The entrance is just north of two so we rode bikes borrowed from our hotel - I'm glad we did as the parking was packed. We got in free with our Karpun summer cards which was nice. Unfortunately we also picked a very busy time (~11) so had people in front and behind us most of the trip. None-the-less it was a nice walk through the gorge on a wooden path hanging out into the gorge. Definitely very scenic and in a few places you basically walk under waterfalls. Great photo ops (given the narrow walkway a tripod is probably out of the question, so if you want to capture the flowing water use an app like "Slow Shutter"). I think it took us ~30 minutes. Definitely recommend.
  • Amazing tourist attraction, make sure you observe the george slowly as it is a "1 way system" as once you have opened the gate to go out, you cannot get back in
  • nice walk across the gorge-canyon. One of the must see in this area.
  • We loved this place. Don't forget to get some fruits and water
  • مكان روعه ويستحق الزياره 👍🏻👏🏻
