#3 of 7 in Museums in Innsbruck
Housed within an old monastery building, Tyrolean Museum of Popular Art serves as an extensive repository of a wealth of regional crafts, costumes, cultural artifacts, and more. Pay a visit to the museum, one of the most popular and well regarded of its kind on the continent, and explore its collection of items documenting life in the region of Tyrol. Wander the exhibits and displays covering centuries of local history and development; the museum focuses particularly on everyday items and traditional crafts. Take special note of the mixture of Germanic and Italian influences present in the museum's artwork and holdings, a feature stemming from the region's historical borders. What a pity, a beautiful series of local objects that show the life of tyrol (the costumes are superb) wooden handicrafts, farm tools but the Organization let a little (mostly foreign) visitors abandoned... little better

Very friendly Museum, with a lot of objects, costumes, furniture... typical of folklore, agricultural, religious and festive life in Tyrol. Also objects to the life of every day, as well as local crafts. A lot of period pieces (16th century) reconstructed completely, all wood, even the ceilings. It shows the knowledge of the time and the main material of the region. Not the first to do it, but very good anyway!

The museum pieces were certainly very interesting, but for an Italian who doesn't know the German was quite complicated orient themselves within the various rooms, as it was not clear the tour route. What we received was a stream of ideas but chaotic (from the typical Carnival mask in cribs and rooms decorated in Tyrolean rooms). The audioguide was included in the ticket price, but we felt it was totally unnecessary, as it contained important information and often not even in Italian. The illustrative panels were only in German. Beautiful church, accessible only from 12:30 on Sunday.

Very unique museum. I'm not a fan of museums but this was interesting on a rainy day. Free access on Austrias national day. Head phones are available in different languages, which helps. Not all bar codes work but a large portion does.

It's a time machine that takes you back to the life and traditions of the mountains and the countryside, not only. You should also visit the Hofkirche. Unmissable

Where to stay in Innsbruck

The Alpine gem of Austria, Innsbruck offers a surprising amount of reasonably priced accommodations for its size. Look for hostels and hotels in the medieval center. Another option is to stay above the city on the Hungerburg Plateau, where you’ll find Alpine hotels with panoramic views from each room. If you're traveling on a budget, look for lodging in private homes throughout the city: rent a room or the entire house for a local stay.
