Stadtturm, Innsbruck

(4.1/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web)
Climb to the top of Stadtturm for a view of the town's historic rooftops and surrounding mountains. Built between 1442 and 1450 as an extension of the former city hall, the tower's construction represented the growing self-confidence of the medieval bourgeoisie, sending a clear message to everyone of its preparedness to defend its right and interests. The 148 steps to the top of the tower may be a difficult climb for the elderly or anyone with mobility issues, and there is no elevator. Have your photo taken at the top of the tower and access it online after your visit. Be sure to save your entry ticket to use the restrooms at the bottom of the tower for free. Put Stadtturm and other Innsbruck attractions into our Innsbruck trip generator, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Great to see what with all the Beauty of Innsbruck this Tower sets the tone! Defiantly Drop by for a photo!
  • The civic Tower of Innsbruck was built between 1450 1442 and alongside the old city hall and raised to 51 meters in the heart of the city. Medieval square at the base, rises into the sky with a Renaissance Octagon and a dome skylight. Hosted for centuries the city representing the heart of political life and the essence of the medieval city. You can reach (€ 3.50) the observation deck (rather narrow) posted a 31 m from the ground facing 166 steps up a double helix, but how much turn up before our eyes reward their efforts. His gaze flowing to 360° from the circle of mountains that seem to embrace the city to continue on the expanse of the roofs of houses of the old town to the square in front of the Golden roof. Unfortunately the incivility even exceeds the architectural barriers expressing himself inside the tower with idiots and even obscene (controls = a 0, yet we are in Austria!)

  • Interesting design with stairs. Well worth the visit. Great view of the city. Go on a Sunday at 11:30am and watch the band play from under the golden roof.
  • A lovely bit of medieval Europe, not to be missed while in Innsbruck
  • Great view over Innsbruck
  • Amazing views and worth the climb late in the day .. Avoid midday as it's crazy busy and hot in the summer.
  • best view from above on Innsbruck's old town and the surrounding mountains
