  • It is worth to come here. Newly renovated! But beware: Usually one stands in the hallway before the shut-off grid and so has not the full look on the ceiling time pure. So best just after the church service, which starts 10:30 on Sundays.

  • I must say it is one of the best churches I have visited. Madonna Rococo altar that the roost is second to other. Very well lit artificially, there are beautiful frescos and an altar was sumptuous. We were lucky to get through the mass, and so it was still open to the public otherwise we couldn't visit if not from behind a door of iron right after the main entrance. Not so great but truly fascinating so much that even Pope John Paul II in 1988 visited this Church of which there is a picture in the side chapel within the Church itself. It's really worth a visit and I also did some great pictures without having to pay anything, you most likely won't help informed us or unlike the Duomo there is no fare.

  • The Basilika had just been unveiled from renovations prior to our arrival. I've never seen something so sparkly, luxurious, and yet welcoming. Stroll the grounds and read the tombstones and markers. A...  more »

  • very impressive architecture. only pity that when I was there, there was an iron gate a few meters into the church which prevented you from walking any further. you can only gaze through that gate.
  • This Baroque basilica is certainly magnificent inside, belying its rather ordinary exterior. I'll add some photos to give you an idea of the interior because words are useless. The only reason that I don't give it 5 stars is because when we visited we were stuck in the antechamber (is that the right word? Probably not.) staring through wire mesh at all the opulent ornamentation. As a keen amateur photographer this really irritated me because so many excellent shots were being denied to me. My whinge aside, if you are in the area you MUST visit. Especially if you like historic grandeur and photography.
  • Super beautiful, very well cared and information for tourists.
