Start from the riverside and walk through small alleys alongside colorful old houses. • The old town of Innsbruck is a must if you're in the area: many small streets, nice shops, a Tyrolean snack and of course also good restaurants to attractions such as the Imperial Palace or the Golden Dacherl. I was here a lot and come back determined too often.

Where to stay in Innsbruck

The Alpine gem of Austria, Innsbruck offers a surprising amount of reasonably priced accommodations for its size. Look for hostels and hotels in the medieval center. Another option is to stay above the city on the Hungerburg Plateau, where you’ll find Alpine hotels with panoramic views from each room. If you're traveling on a budget, look for lodging in private homes throughout the city: rent a room or the entire house for a local stay.
