The zoo accommodates 20 alpine mammal species, 60 kinds of birds, 11 types of reptiles, and six amphibian species, as well as nearly all alpine fish species. • Wildlife and game locations along a route with 100 meters in altitude comfortably on foot. The animals are treated very well and the cages they recreate their natural environment. Ideal for any type of visit/holiday. Convenient parking adjacent to the entrance. Recommended

  • On the road with the Nordkette Bahn stepped out to the Alpenzoo. It is well worth the trouble, because this zoo the animals that in Europe and mostly in the Alps also live in the wild. Beautiful course sequence. Is well worth a visit

  • There are not many animals and birds unlike other bigger zoos. However, they have been placed in a very thoughtful and convenient way to locate and enjoy them. If you have time to kill (which we unfortunately did not have and on the top of it weather played spoilsport - rains!), this is a fantastic way to spend time and wait for the birds and animals to show up. Good luck.
  • A very interesting and definitely worth seeing place. Easy to get to by car, cable car and on foot as well. A very nice, natural surrounding.
  • I haven't visited zoo long long time ago. And it's definitely worth seeing. The atmosphere is exceptionally great!
  • Always fun but there are hills to walk. Animals were out even on a winter's afternoon. Not crowded either. Worth the trip if you like zoos
  • A wonderful little zoo. They don't have everything, but, for the price, it's a great way to spend a few extra hours in Innsbruck. The birds there were especially awesome!

Where to stay in Innsbruck

The Alpine gem of Austria, Innsbruck offers a surprising amount of reasonably priced accommodations for its size. Look for hostels and hotels in the medieval center. Another option is to stay above the city on the Hungerburg Plateau, where you’ll find Alpine hotels with panoramic views from each room. If you're traveling on a budget, look for lodging in private homes throughout the city: rent a room or the entire house for a local stay.
