It is a so great track and the prospects are devastatingly beautiful! The huts along the route are also great and offer a solution one for small and large appetites. The nature is incredible to see, if you take time to climb the different routes by car or on foot. Absolutely worth seeing!
Very cool place! The place itself as one big slope, very good viewing!
To the compulsory program and unforgettable experience of visitors and guests in the Ziller Valley a ride over the advisable the 1960s-built Zillertal high road in a length of 48 km beginning up to an altitude of 2,020 m ü.NN. The narrow road originally served the Alpine farmers for the management of the alms, the Hirschbichlalm was built in 1973 and then the road was gravel, later paved and expanded with turnouts and for the creation of infrastructure facilities (hotels, Guest houses, huts, water storage, lifts, water storage, timber transport, etc.) so that is the way community committed felt used to the greater extent to raise toll charges for the maintenance and expansion of in the period of May - October (summer months). The ramps are located in Riedberg and Kaltenbach (high pasture, Kaltenbach ski hut, Zirmstadl, Platzlalm), Aschau and Zell mountain (Söggenaste – mountain hut, Green Mountain, Hirschbichlalm, Zellberg Almgasthaus and North in Schwendberg (Thunder House (holiday farm)) , Alpine Inn Mösl, Melchboden. From there, hiking possibilities and others to Crystal and Rastkogelhütte. Between them there are interconnections, on the Zillertal high road so that you continue walking the entire area. explore by bike or motorbike, car, coaches up to 10.5 m in length or in part also with buses, taxis, etc.. Numerous Zillertal bus operators offer also tailored excursions, where the buses accordingly (with retarder braking system) are equipped. The toll fees - paid will be at the various toll stations at the Auffahrten-5,00 euro (single-track vehicles), 8 euro cars up to 6 persons and multi-lane vehicle, 17 euro mini-buses and buses with more than 12 seats 22 euro. When passing over the often only one-lane mountain roads with narrow steep turns and bays alternate (when meeting traffic) in the Tuxer Voralpen safe driving behaviour and technically well maintained vehicles are necessary if it high above the bottom of the Ziller Valley on the way to the tree borders at altitudes about 1,700 to about 2,000 m ü.NN. The unusual Zillertalstraße always writhing in many corners high offers peace and many panoramic views of the Valley and the Tux and Zillertal Alps. The lowest and at the same time longest driveway with the largest difference is in Hippach/Schwendberg. Here, one also has the best overview. All other exits are extremely steep, with a height difference cope percent E.g. by Ried/Kaltenbach (573 m ü.NN) up to the top of the drive of almost 1500 m at a gradient of uphill from 8.8 to 14.2. During and after the driveway you are rewarded with refreshments - and sometimes accommodation in one of the many mountain huts, Inns and luxury cabins. Including Platzlalm, rastkogel hut, the Zellbergstüberl with above built Chapel, Zirmstadl and Kaltenbach ski hut, the Hirschbichlalm, Crystal hut, mountain hut Melchboden and the frond hut invite you to a hearty snack with a cool drink and often also Live music such as the Zellbergbuam in the Zellbergstüberl or live music on Sundays with the shader rags in the Hirschbichlalm. The Zillertaler Höhenstrasse offers travellers an unforgettable experience and impressions of a beautiful panorama of the Zillertal Alps, offers beautiful natural landscapes and leads to more huts or a fun part musical rest in one of the cosy mountain guest house from early May to late October - depending on the snow conditions. In addition such as paragliding are available for sports enthusiasts.
Exciting street always on the brink along. Once at the top you will be rewarded with a beautiful view and can on a small Inn of some food or drink.
This is a "must"...
The Zillertaler Höhenstrasse is not necessarily one of the most famous Alpine route, but for me. Small streets, little traffic. Small huts invite you to pause. Who is with the motorcycle in the vicinity should go this route!
