Uhrturm, Graz
(4.7/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Climb to the top of Uhrturm, the medieval clock tower offering a panoramic view of the city. Originally built as a medieval defense tower, the city paid Napoleon a ransom in 1809 to keep it from being destroyed when the other fortifications on the hill overlooking the city were conquered. The clock is unique in that the large hand shows the hour and the small one minutes. The small hand was added much later since the large one could be seen from the town at the bottom of the hill. Those with mobility challenges should take the tram or elevator to the top of the tower. Put Uhrturm at the forefront of your travel plans using our Graz travel itinerary planner.

  • The clock tower with its grandeur overlooks the city from the top in the area of the ruins of the historic medieval castle. The view is unique especially in the morning or at dusk. To reach the Tower cableways and lifts have been created all the precautions possible by creating in the old tunnel dug to protect themselves during the war a very charming location.

  • Eat top! Personnel flop! We were on a Saturday night dinner in the Steiererstube and had fixed to that the food is very good but the staff is overwhelmed and better in bed and breakfast should be sent! You get food thrown out and is treated under each would! Moreover a very untidy waiter! This very bad the this restaurant food and atmosphere is great!

  • Beautiful small Tower, landmark of the town, which unfortunately was renovated from the inside at the time of my visit. Yet admission was requested for the half a look up of the movement stair... well... I hake off it as a "Donation to restore" ;)

  • The town's landmark. A definitive must-see for every tourist. With a nice garden, a panorama café, the "Kasemattenbühne" open air-stage and a lot of other attractions nearby.
  • Beautiful Clock, awesome view! Get ready for going up! ;)
  • Very beautiful view to the city, the clock tower is really nice as well. If you are in graz then you must go there - it's worth it
  • Lovely view on all of Graz! Must visit! You can come up either by stairs from one side, or by foot up hill or by elevator :) from the bottom of the hill.
  • Standing tall at the south edge of the Schlossberg is the "Uhrturm" , the city's emblem. It can be reached by a number of strenuous paths and also by lift or Schlossbergbahn funicular for the cost of just a regular city transport ticket.
