Uhrturm, Graz
(4.7/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Climb to the top of Uhrturm, the medieval clock tower offering a panoramic view of the city. Originally built as a medieval defense tower, the city paid Napoleon a ransom in 1809 to keep it from being destroyed when the other fortifications on the hill overlooking the city were conquered. The clock is unique in that the large hand shows the hour and the small one minutes. The small hand was added much later since the large one could be seen from the town at the bottom of the hill. Those with mobility challenges should take the tram or elevator to the top of the tower. Put Uhrturm at the forefront of your travel plans using our Graz travel itinerary planner.

  • The clocktower is the most visit building in Graz. At the top of this mountain you have an amazing city view. Cool place. Love it.
  • Ordinary clock minute hand and hour hand, the reverse cute clock tower. Either route is uphill from the town. At the end of October, the trees colored and was very beautiful! Climbed a bit more friendly even the view from the clock tower, you can enjoy the more widespread views were waiting for me!

  • This is the best location overlooking the city from the top! Recommended walk on the way back, climbed rapidly in the elevator. You can see the fortress could not be tackled just Napoleon at close range. Near it is 945 m deep wells. You can feel the depth and it dripped water. Contemporary art and also the roof of Orange in the middle ages, the city's newest building seen from above and oh-.-I like this form and enjoy. Relaxing over coffee at the cafe near the enjoyed autumn leaves on the way back. It is highly recommended.

  • The town's landmark. A definitive must-see for every tourist. With a nice garden, a panorama café, the "Kasemattenbühne" open air-stage and a lot of other attractions nearby.
  • Beautiful Clock, awesome view! Get ready for going up! ;)
  • Very beautiful view to the city, the clock tower is really nice as well. If you are in graz then you must go there - it's worth it
  • Lovely view on all of Graz! Must visit! You can come up either by stairs from one side, or by foot up hill or by elevator :) from the bottom of the hill.
  • Standing tall at the south edge of the Schlossberg is the "Uhrturm" , the city's emblem. It can be reached by a number of strenuous paths and also by lift or Schlossbergbahn funicular for the cost of just a regular city transport ticket.
