Nature / Park
Walk around Grazer Schlossberg, the public park offering extensive views of the city, and home to a fortress, castle, and clock tower. Sit down and relax on benches and grassy areas throughout the park, take in a show at one of the entertainment venues, and enjoy a meal at one of the cafes or restaurants. • Who may run not high, can be solved, for example, a combined ticket train/lift. Not only on the mountain, it is nice, the system of tunnels in the mountain is interesting. Tip for hot summer days: In the long tunnel to the lift, it is pleasantly cool. Many restaurants and scenic spots. It is recommended also for first-time visitors to Graz, to get an overview of the city.

  • The ancient city's fortress, unconquered even from aggressive troops, was demolished following the Treaty of Vienna and today you can admire the remains, the symbolic clock tower (Uhrturm) and, above all, a nice Park and a splendid view. It is also possible to reach the top with an elevator (€1.60) or the funicular for those unwilling to do so on foot (I recommend!) To see why offers a beautiful panorama of the city and represents a significant historical part!

  • UEN Hill of greenery in the middle of Graz, at the top of which you can admire the city. Perfect for a romantic ballad

  • Short ride, great view, efficient service if you can't climb up under your own steam. Great experience for the kids. The cars are mostly in the shade but the glass ceiling and little ventilation makes it challenging in 30+ degrees
  • Not like a hell of a lot to do here, but I like the food at the top, and the view is wonderful. A good way to get yourself situated. Pro tip: take the elevator up, then walk your way down.
  • Great views of the city and surrounding area. Nice streets to walk around and grab a drink or listen to people playing music. Can walk up or take the elevator within the mountain.
  • Great place to hang out. It seems to be a good place for children as well. The view of the city is amazing!
  • Amazing views of the city, well worth climbing the 200+ steps for. Very peaceful and pleasant gardens. A lovely place just to wander around.

Where to stay in Graz

Austria’s second-largest city offers a large selection of accommodation options for every type of traveler. Outside of the city’s core in the Lend district are more affordable lodgings. Roughly a ten-minute walk to the Altstadt, this area provides an economical alternative while still keeping you close to the attractions. If you’re willing to compromise on privacy, the best prices are in private accommodations in local homes. Often this means sharing a bathroom with other guests and occasionally even the homeowners.
