Ein Ausflug in die Wachau empfiehlt sich nicht nur zur Zeit der Marillenblüte, sondern auch im Advent. Da sollte man es nicht versäumen, dem Stift Göttweig einen Besuch abzustatten. Das hoch über dem ... more »A trip in the Wachau is advisable not only to the flowering of apricot, but also in the advent. Because you should not miss to visit the monastery of Göttweig. The PIN located high above the Danube valley, was already in the middle ages, but only more remains are present. The great Benedictine monastery was planned by the imperial court architect Lukas von Hildebrandt. So, for example the monumental imperial staircase is one of the most impressive staircases of Europe from the Baroque period. The main rooms of the monastery can be visited in guided tours. During advent there is a very neat Christmas market in the basement of the monastery. Also held afternoon still Advent concerts in the Church. Highly recommended for a day trip!
Riesen-Komplex! Für einen Abstecher aus der Wachau sehr gut über Krems erreichbar. Tolle Aussicht ins Donau-Tal. Viele Spaziermöglichkeiten. more »Giant complex! For a detour from the Wachau region very well about Krems accessible. Great views of the Danube valley. Many walks.
I toured the abbey in December 2017 during a light snow storm. The place is really grand. I enjoyed the apricot nectar and apricot sparkling wine.
Nice and well maintained building in a great location with a fantastic view. Unfortunately a bit overpriced.
Went in December so there was also an Advent Christmas Market. Beautiful Abbey.
Beautiful church on the top of the city of Krems, with a panoramic overview (Check the restaurant & the desserts/ice cream served there) over the landscape. Worth a visit & stay. Also very nice for weddings!
Stayed here on a self guided bike ride. Wow! Yes, its quiet and different, so how can you pass it up! I give it a 5, not for amenities, but for character which you will never experience anywhere else without staying. Be prepared for the bells, part of the religious character. So much history. Pack your own vino, very limited in case you need to pedal up/down the hill lol.. We loved it, thank you!
