Gollinger Wasserfall, Golling an der Salzach

(160+ reviews on the web)
Waterfall
Thundering 76 m (249 ft) into the valley below, Gollinger Wasserfall represents one of Austria's most prized natural monuments. The waterfall has served as muse for many a Romantic period painter, aptly located a short distance away from a late Gothic pilgrimage church with a Baroque interior. The waterfall is a 3 km (2 mi) hike from the city center, and the trail takes visitors up a steep ascent over a romantic wooden bridge. The trail passes the "black brook," as it's called, and leads to the cave that sources the waterfall. You can drive part way up to the falls, but to reach the top you'll have to hike the remainder on foot. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Golling an der Salzach holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Gollinger Wasserfall and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • The waterfall is very nice, and the road all the way to hear the voice of the powerful. What point we went to pouring rain but still very nice. High season, € 5, calling for "an additional fee"

  • The waterfalls are beautiful with all the snow around. There is still quite a significant flow of water. I walked right to the base.  more »

  • After a long walk we finally arrived the nice waterfalls of Gollinger. it's a nice trip and also suitable for kids.
  • Short hike, you will get wet at the top but worth the climb and stairs. Beautiful rainbow halfway up if it's a sunny day. Very much worth the 2.5 euro to hike this.
  • A must see in the area Suited for children, easy walk of about 30 minutes Beautiful and romantic
  • Breathtaking waterfall less than 30 minutes walk from the centre of Gölling. You can get here with just ordinary clothes and shoes (although the guides claims otherwise). Just make sure to bring a camera to capture the beauty!
  • This place is amazing! you get to walk on a small bridge just on top of the waterfall.
