Trip Planner: Europe / Austria / Austrian Alps / Salzburg Region / Golling an der Salzach / Nature / Gollinger Wasserfall
Thundering 76 m (249 ft) into the valley below, Gollinger Wasserfall represents one of Austria's most prized natural monuments. The waterfall has served as muse for many a Romantic period painter, aptly located a short distance away from a late Gothic pilgrimage church with a Baroque interior. The waterfall is a 3 km (2 mi) hike from the city center, and the trail takes visitors up a steep ascent over a romantic wooden bridge. The trail passes the "black brook," as it's called, and leads to the cave that sources the waterfall. You can drive part way up to the falls, but to reach the top you'll have to hike the remainder on foot. Certainly worth the walk to see all 3 of these waterfalls. A short climb , not too arduous. You do get a bit wet along the way from the spray, but the views are worth it. Only a short way out of Golli... more »
The walk to the top would be easy for a healthy adult of any age provided they take their time. This is probably one of the best waterfalls I have been to, 3 euros each is a bargin. The signs say 10 m... more »
Nice place for a walk with a wonderful waterfall at the end. The hike isn't very long or difficult, so it's also suitable for children. The entrance fee is 3 euro each.
Went yesterday, off-season and it was amazing! The falls and caves are absolutely gorgeous, lots of trails to hike, and the surrounding scenery is breathtaking. Parking is limited at the falls, so on busy days you may have to park in the village below and walk up. (It's only a 10-15 minute walk, not far.) To the bottom of the Fälle is a fairly easy walk, only a few minutes. Hiking there off-season is free and I believe it's only a few Euro for admission during the summer. From the main falls to the top/Quelle there are a lot of stairs and the trail is steep in places, so it may be difficult for small children or the elderly. The trails beyond the falls into the Backcountry are definitely for more advanced hikers as they are steep and rugged. For a visit just to the falls expect to be there about an hour. There is no WC or drinking fountain, so bring water if needed.
After a long walk we finally arrived the nice waterfalls of Gollinger. it's a nice trip and also suitable for kids.
Short hike, you will get wet at the top but worth the climb and stairs. Beautiful rainbow halfway up if it's a sunny day. Very much worth the 2.5 euro to hike this.
This place is amazing! you get to walk on a small bridge just on top of the waterfall.
