The visit to this castle was really delighted, because I no longer experienced as an authentic leadership. First was the leader with passion without to be rambling and second is due to the fact that almost everything is original, nothing "break renovated", the time of the end of the Habsburg monarchy, nowhere so close comprehensible as here or it gives an unvarnished look at life at the Court. A must for any history buffs Austrians. Look up lead times, only 3 visits a day (at the moment 11, 14 + 4 pm)

You can only go on a tour of this hunting lodge and it was a little pricey. A large group too so it was not always easy to hear. Should have asked if they had an English (readable) version beforehand ...  more »

Castle Eckartsau joins the numerous palaces in the Marchfeld on the Northern Bank of the Danube. 1175 already for the first time it was mentioned as a water castle originally owned by the sex of the Eckart Sauer, after several changes of ownership the moated castle was by Fischer von Erlach to a baroque hunting lodge rebuilt and expanded through a garden. It served as the seat of the last emperor Karl I as the family seat, his study is still intact in the original. Located in the heart of the National Park Donau-Auen is the plant now owned by the Republic and is managed by the federal forests. Worth seeing is the feudal staircase with ceiling fresco and the courtyard where a café offers refreshments and snacks.

Lovley, during every season. Brilliant to visit on a trip to Schloß Niederweiden and Schloß Hof. The Area just contains many empirial locations like Schloß Niederweiden where FJ´s hunting grounds were. In Schloß Eckartsau Emperor Charles I renounced the state transactions 1918. Great hunting trophies hall.
