  • That's what attracted me to the Castle, it's the fact that here he was imprisoned for two years, Richard the lion heart. The ruins are cool, amazing view. The entrance is a little for those who need to work on your fitness.

  • Who dares the climb to the ruins of Dürnstein, be said that here the masonry while attached but is nonetheless not to overestimate. It can quite break out a stone from masonry. Otherwise, the view is very nice and certainly comparable with other castles in the Wachau Valley from here.

  • We reached the hike from Krems to Dürnstein via the captive hut via a steep path to the ruins of Dürnstein. Many information boards tell the story of Richard the Lionheart and the Crusades. Very great designed and each, perhaps tedious step worth...

  • This was a stop on a river cruise. Fantastic spot. The town below is beautiful with narrow, winding streets. The walk up to the castle is alongside old, unique residences. As has been mentioned by others, the walk is steep so take that in to account. It is well worth the effort.
  • Such a great castle to explore and climb up to. Fairly steep climb but it's not rock climbing. Not many hand rails if you struggle on regular steps. The views from the top of the Wachau Valley are breathtaking. Weather could not have been better! Worth the climb and there's a small history lesson about King Richard of Lion heart who was held captive here for a time.
  • Very refreshing trek. Takes 15 hard minutes but the view is absolutely worth the climb.you get a panoramic view at the Wachau valley. It's breezing on the top
  • An enjoyable visit Tracking to the top is not long and interesting, it is not hard and can even be done with children. The view from top is amazing and the ruins are nicely preserved and relatively clean (aside from some spots) When in the area, dont miss it
  • Exhausting climb! But if you survive, you'll be rewarded with amazing view! Worth to go, definitely! Path is clean and safe
