  • Bad Gastein is really very-very bad resort for skiing. B14 ski slope is really very bad, only one slope you can use to return from top of mountain to Bad Gastein. Never use this resort with small chil...  more »
  • Good ski systems that have proper height with the right long slopes in General. Most of the slopes are red or black and blue, it's a bit short of where these are routes that rule. Not a great ski resort for beginners, in other words. We were there week 7 and had bright sunshine in 5 days out of 7, which made it a little hard on the slopes in the absence of fresh snow. Fine slopes otherwise if they had been a little smoother with better grip. Wonder a bit how good it slopes as it had not been so hard at other locations, despite the fine weather and lack of snow. The front towards Bad Gastein is not a superskidåkning but you need to take towards Angertal ski region and Open. H1 and H2 in the Schlossalm are fantastic beautiful hills on a sunny day. Lifts are a bit dated with 2-4 air lifts that are a bit slow and not so long that you will end up with no need to switch. New large and fast ägglift will in the Schlossalm 2018 which will lift the situation greatly, I would think. Good and many lunch places with really good prices.

  • Snowshoe course in Angertal or snow hiking in Sportgastein, also for Skilose has much to offer the Gastein Valley: free parking, the private road costs €10 after sports toll per car, there is also a bus. You can run the groomed routes to walk hours or book the very reasonable €6 snowshoe course on-site. On the Sportgasteiner plateau, the wet field Alm offers hearty fare for Kalorienhungrige. The ambience is unique in the winter.
