Zoo Salzburg houses a riotous array of exotic and common residents in outdoor enclosures. Wander the zoo and you'll be greeted by 1,200 different animals representing 140 species from around the world. You'll pass through varied ecological zones and themed areas, including Eurasia, the African savannah, and the Americas, sheltering a collection of critters ranging from rhinos to river otters. You'll find that the zoo emphasizes housing animals together to provide a more realistic environment, meaning that multiple species from similar habitats run free together. If you've got kids in tow while at the zoo, be sure to grab a free cart, available next to the gift shop, to give them a ride around the exhibits. Zoo Salzburg is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Anif Edition.

  • Today I visited the Zoo. Despite the rain, it was a beautiful afternoon. The location, right on the rock, offers a unique panorama. There are species that can otherwise not necessarily to face. A visit is worthwhile.

  • The Zoo is not just big and it is really fast, if you take the time to see all the animals. The animal enclosure built into the rocks have something for themselves. The animal houses are decorated in a modern style and according to the needs of the animals and visitors. Parking is free for Zoo visitors.

  • Not too big, but nice Zoo. A nice selection of animals. Location is worth 5 stars!
  • nice zoo, right next to the Hellbrunn palace and the trick fountains. you can easily visit both in one day.
  • Many animals, nice views, nice weathet
  • Good VFM. The physical size of the zoo is not big but there is a great array of animals from all areas of the globe. We were unfortunate not to see the bears but suspect hibernation! Lots of playful goats for whom you can buy pellets to feed them. All the information inside the zoo is all in German and not sure whether there are multi national guide books.
  • A lot of cute animals.
