Zoo Salzburg, Anif

(4.3/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Zoo Salzburg houses a riotous array of exotic and common residents in outdoor enclosures. Wander the zoo and you'll be greeted by 1,200 different animals representing 140 species from around the world. You'll pass through varied ecological zones and themed areas, including Eurasia, the African savannah, and the Americas, sheltering a collection of critters ranging from rhinos to river otters. You'll find that the zoo emphasizes housing animals together to provide a more realistic environment, meaning that multiple species from similar habitats run free together. If you've got kids in tow while at the zoo, be sure to grab a free cart, available next to the gift shop, to give them a ride around the exhibits. Zoo Salzburg is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Anif Edition.

  • A 10-minute drive from Salzburg, ample parking included in your ticket. This attraction is part of the Salzburg card. The zoo is not very big and is situated along the slopes of a natural wall. The animals have ample space and are well taken care of. There are both European and exotic animals. We stayed there in the winter and it was quiet. Many refreshment places were closed.

  • To go with children, is worthwhile, especially if you have the Salzbourg card. There are many animals, is well maintained and is nice to see.
