  • We boarded the Sunday mountain of Böhlerwerk Park from (Luegstraße at a car wash, then trail begins behind the train tracks). This way is pretty steep, but offers great views, if one has left the forest behind. Above at the Church the views are fantastic, the Danube valley going very far, and on the other side of the magnificent Alps look with farms and many villages. The Church is renovated now and has not really addressed in the Interior despite the Baroque splendor, us. Behind the church there is a playground and there are bicycle paths around the mountain.

  • From afar it recognizes the two towers with their typical hoods helmets if you travel through the Mostviertel in lower Austria, the symbol of one of the most beautiful Baroque pilgrimage churches of in Austria. Already in the year 1440 a chapel on the Sonntagberg is called as a destination for pilgrims; consecrated in 1477 to the Patrizium the establishment of a late Gothic church dates back to the year 1490. The present basilica was extended century according to the plans of Josef Muggenast and the architect Jakob Prandauer in the 17th century to build a Baroque splendor. Entering the Basilica a representative entrance over which towers the miraculous image of the main façade of the mother of God; Here enters the four-Bay nave facing the high altar by 12 columns framed; also here you can see the monumental painting of the icon in the Center. Impressive are the wonderful color-accented ceiling frescoes and magnificent glass Windows depicting the landscape; in the rear part of the nave, the choir room is located with its late Baroque 25 register splendor organ; We should not forget also the sacristy to visit. Since 1666 the Sonntagberg is regarded as a pilgrimage church, today around 100.00 pilgrims visit this wonderful parish church. And after visiting the Basilica, a stop at most this year, Zötscher is recommended?
