  • We came here really happened. Because we were hungry, we went to the pen restaurant. That was a good place to start: a very nice waitress, moderate prices, excellent food. Then we toured the baroque monastery. A great investment, beautiful magnificent courtyards, well maintained green and the particularly attractive architecture. In the Church is impressive beautiful ceiling frescoes by Paul Troger. This pen is worth a visit.

  • The Foundation of the Benedictine Abbey of Altenburg is already going on the year 1144 back as populated by twelve monks from the Monastery St. Lambrecht. After changing fate, wars, the present baroque structure was expanded according to plans by Joseph Muggenast, on Romanesque foundations. Located on a dominant hilltop overlooking the Kamp Valley the sprawling plant is visible from afar. Worth seeing are the crypt, the dome fresco by Paul Troger in the Imperial staircase, Stiftskriche and the Abbey library with approximately 25,000 volumes, 358 early printing, 150 incunabula, 383 manuscripts, and an Abdu Beck globe, as well as numerous microfilmed manuscripts. The monastery shop offers products from the pen Winery. PIN restaurant may refer to refreshments available. The monastery also by his choir boy and cultural events is known. The current monastery operating includes wineries, agriculture and forestry. A place where you should not pass.

  • During our tour of the lower Austria we have visited several monasteries and it may sound stupid, but this pen is "refreshing".

  • Amazing place, energy shine throw every wall. Best part is Kripta and Bibliotheke. Must visit!
  • There are sufficient parking facilities, very nice staff and good food in the restaurant in the middle price segment (lunch with drink around €15). The tour of the monastery makes great pleasure. There are always seats, enough toilets. In between, there are activities for children, such as a memory. The panels of Declaration of are informative but not overloaded. In addition to the PIN and the medieval part of the monastery, there are some gardens that invite you to linger, as well a small maze. Highly recommended as a whole!
