  • So close to Vienna and an oasis of relaxation, culture and beautiful scenery. In addition to interesting events were also underground research over the past years, dug and created an impressive exhibition, which was described in detail. (Rooms on request) an interesting experience is to stay in the pen, and with a little luck you can listen the Altenburger sängerknaben. The Stiftsrestaurent is open until the end of October and at the gate you can buy specialities of the region and the PIN. The light Dragonfly pond sparkling wine from the vineyards of the monastery of Altenburg is highly recommended!

  • Benedictine STIFT Altenburg in the forest district is located south of the village on a hill above the Kamp Valley, the Tower of the Church is already visible. The featured Benedictine monastery was founded already in 1144 and originally settled by twelve Styrian monks; only a window into the cloister is preserved from the original Romanesque building. The spacious complex includes the marble tract, library wing, cloister, convent courtyard, kitchen and Brunnenhof. In its current form, the monastery and church was renewed 1730-1733 by Joseph Muggenast; in the Interior of the monastery you will find magnificent stucco decorations, wall paintings, and in particular the famous dome fresco by Paul Troger. In the Church is the beautiful organ. The very impressive library contains 25,000 volumes, a peculiar crypt is 150 incunabula and 358 early printed books in the library. To visit also in the vicinity are the Rosenburg, grilling stone castle, Castle Breiteneich, and the Krahuletz Museum in Eggenburg.

  • It's a hidden gem in the heart of the quiet Austrian campaign. The parties open to visitors are vast and you take full eyes.
