Blue Lotus Water Garden Reviews
I have to applaud the owners who created and maintain the garden to stay so beautiful, a long drive, but fantastic day out, can't fault it. Food - the cafe on premises prepares some hot food. We had f... more »

The disabled toilet is at the entrance with a manual door, so a wheelchair user may need assistance getting in and out of it The staff was very friendly. I was in a power wheelchair and the gardens had good wheelchair access on the sandy/gravel paths. It was busy, I did not try the bridge walk as it looked a bit narrow for people to get past a wheelchair. To get to the Golden Lotus pool, you are on grass which maybe a bit difficult in a manual wheelchair, but I managed. Some of the covered exhibits require negotiating slopes and some are to tight for a wheelchair but you still can see the exhibits from the entrance. The gardens are magnificent. Many beautiful coloured plants and trees. Also saw egret, ducks and eurasian coots amongst the waterlililes. There is plenty of shelter for the able bodied with chairs and tables. It was a sunny day and it was difficult to get under shade at times with the wheelchair. Food ranges from bistro type meals, sandwiches, wraps and icecreams. Chicken wrap was excellent as was the iced coffee. I, thoroughly, recommend this place and hope to visit again soon.
This garden has an amazing collection of water-lilies, lotuses, and other water-borne plants with colourful flowers. The tropical section has large and sharp lilies (Amazon water lilies, crocodile lil... more »
The gardens themselves are lovely and it’s a great place to wander on a summer’s day; I took my two and four year old and they were both able to walk around as it was mainly flat and at their level. The fairy garden was pretty good - not particularly novel but four little “houses” the kids could go in, play on a mini slide, and sit on a giant chair - it amused my girls for a good 15 minutes, but I don’t think it would occupy children 6+ for long, so definitely for the little ones. What brought my rating down was the price ($17.50 entry; I have a single parent pension card but they only accept disability and senior pension cards - I’m glad the kids were free!), particularly for the food - I got them an ice-cream treat and a (small) single scoop of ice-cream cost $4.50!! If it was a chunky scoop I might understand, but I can see why so many people bring their own food. The main clientele are Asian tourists/families - I’d say 90% - and they seem to usually bring their own food - I wonder if the high prefixes are because of this tourist-basis. It’s the type of place I might bring the kids once a year, next time with a picnic instead!
At 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from Melbourne Blue lotus water garden is an ideal day trip from Melbourne for summer. Situated on the banks of the Little Yarra river, the garden boasts of thousands of lotus flowers including world's largest Amazon Giant Lily. With viewing rotundas, picnic shelters a full scale cafe and restaurant, not to mention the complimentary BBQ station to use, you can spend a large petition of your day without having to go out for food, drink or fun. You may see an occasional platypus, duck, frog or a great egret saying hello to you when you wander around. The main attraction though are the breathtaking views - of lotus flowers, the river, greenery in the backdrop of distant hills. We were in luck for it was a cloudy day and the occasional sun shining selectively on the flowers showed us the artistry of nature. The cost of tickets is 17$ per adult and kids below 16 go free with accompanying adult. Parking is free too. There is a gift shop and nursery where you can buy lotus plants. Check out the photos for what can't be put in words.
This is an amazing place to visit. The waterlily and lotus flowers are incredible. Best flower display I have ever seen. If you have a pond then go and get a few of there special waterlilies they have in their nursery. Why not start a half wine barrel and put one of their lotus in it. So easy to grow in Melbourne and you will have a spectacular display of leaves and the most beautiful flowers. Go and check this place out. You won't be disappointed.
The flowers and the garden were wonderful, but as I need to use a walker, I had great difficulty getting around and was limited as to where I could go in some parts. I was quite exhausted by the end of my time at the gardens from having to control the walker and the jolting of it on uneven surfaces. I think people who require the use of a walker to get around need to be aware that not all surfaces are smooth and easy to manage within the garden. V.O.
Great place to visit. So much to see. Had a great time.
