Timbertown Wauchope, Wauchope
(3.5/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Step back in time at Timbertown Wauchope, a family-friendly attraction depicting the colonial era of a sawmiller’s village in northern New South Wales. Located on 39 hectares (87 acres) of coastal blackbutt (a species of eucalyptus) forests, this site is an interactive village-museum opened in 1976. The area’s key attraction is a working full-size narrow-gauge steam train, which rides on a short circuit track within and around the village. You can also choose to explore the area on horse and carriage rides. There are several businesses operating in the village, including a blacksmith, timber furniture maker, and a souvenir/confectionery shop. You can purchase local woodwork, artwork, and craft items from a number of skilled village artisans. • Last time I went to Timbertown I recived very poor service fom the woman at the frount desk. As she must have been in a bad mood. Making me feel like it was a experience I do not want to incounter again. But apart from her the rest of the people were very kind and helpful.
  • Lovely old school attraction - the sort I used to go to as a kid and you dont really find anymore. There is a steam train, olden days town, horse and carriage and my favourite - the bullocks show! Probably needs a bit of a tidy ups - why don't you have a town working bee for Timbertown - it brings in a lot of visitors to the town. I would recommend for families - my 3 kids had a great time, we did too.
  • I had heard some negative things about this place but I have to say that I love it. I don't know how long this sort of place will last as the operating expenses must be huge. I really hope it's there for generations
  • i love timber town. It was well worth the money. Only thing i personally did not like is they don't have the paddle boats, the bush ranger or the girl on the train running away with her boyfriend into the bush anymore. They were the best things about timber town now they are not there. Other then that it was great! The best things there now are the bullocks the man that looks after them is very nice and the train driver was really great! WELL WORTH THE PRICE! I loved all the old buildings and learning a lot. I go there every 2 years since i was 5 and i will keep going :) (i am now 20).
