Step back in time at Timbertown Wauchope, a family-friendly attraction depicting the colonial era of a sawmiller’s village in northern New South Wales. Located on 39 hectares (87 acres) of coastal blackbutt (a species of eucalyptus) forests, this site is an interactive village-museum opened in 1976. The area’s key attraction is a working full-size narrow-gauge steam train, which rides on a short circuit track within and around the village. You can also choose to explore the area on horse and carriage rides. There are several businesses operating in the village, including a blacksmith, timber furniture maker, and a souvenir/confectionery shop. You can purchase local woodwork, artwork, and craft items from a number of skilled village artisans. With our custom trip planner, Wauchope attractions like Timbertown Wauchope can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

Timbertown Wauchope Reviews
We arrived at Timbertown not quite sure what to expect based on the reviews. I'm looking at the daily program we received so let's use that to determine which city we got: the historic town with the r... more »
A place that wasn't on the radar to visit whilst holidaying for a week in Port Macquarie. A historic look at how things were many years ago in Australia and the living conditions of some houses, the t... more »
Unsure what I paid $25.50 for. The steam train and cow displays were the only thing open everything else was shut and no displays open. Very neglected and run down. Incredibly disappointing day out. more »
I visited this place last month. I saw some negative reviews on front desk and did not expect a good service. However found that she was good. When I gathered around I was amused at the friendly services given by others. I think people give negative reviews on front desk as other give more extra-ordinary service. In this case a good service is lost due to the extra-ordinary service. However seeing the amount of expenditure spent to up-keep this place not sure if it will survive. I sincerely hope this antique piece survives for long.
Very old world well set up you feel like your gone back in time old pubs and stables little schools and churches old jail you get to see how they lived very minimalist great day for kids little pub cafe and icecream parlour as well as entertainment and a steam train ride
Very disappointed. We visited here quite a few years ago and everything was working including the hotel and timbermill visited today and not much other than the trains and horse and cart were . All the old houses etc don't seem to be looked after, maintainance at a minimum. But they have built a huge corrugated clad building out the front. Feel as if it is not value for money
had a really fun time here even got a chance to blow the train whistle a couple of times it was really good.
We arrived just before 1pm and were able to make the 1pm steam train ride - great fun. The park is good value for money but be warned - except for the gift shop and the blacksmith; the other shops close at 2.30pm (we weren't told that at reception or in the lolly shop when we said "we'll go for a walk and then be back on our way out"). Some signs with opening hours need to be clearly displayed on the shops. The gift shop was also a let-down. Timbertown has an amazing steam train but it's not on their kids t-shirts instead; they use photos of "Thomas the Tank-Engine" which I can buy cheaper elsewhere. The opening hours cannot be seen until you are at the front doors. Clear signs need to be displayed on the carpark entrance. We enjoyed our visit and will be back in the future but the above issues need to be fixed
