Logan's Beach, Warrnambool

(4.5/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Best known as a whale viewing spot, Logan's Beach is located on the eastern side of the city. This beach is recognized as a nursery site for the southern right whale. Most years one to three female whales come here between May and August, giving birth within days of their arrival. The young whale calves are reared here, usually departing with their female parents by mid to late September. Australian fur seals, little penguins, and dolphins also regularly visit this coastline. From the beach’s viewing platform, whales can often be seen even without binoculars. • This is a great place to take your dogs for some walking time. Summertime dogs should be on lead but plenty of space for them to play
  • Great views to be had from this vantage point, I was here the wrong time of year to see whales but it is very well set up for this purpose when luck holds. Worth a walk along the beach as well, very r...  more »
  • Stunning scenery, fantastic viewing platform. Defnitely not a safe swimming beach though. Great for experienced surfers and very strong swimmers as there is a big drop off!
