Urimbirra Wildlife Park, Victor Harbor

(170+ reviews on the web)
Zoo / Aquarium
The Urimbirra Wildlife Experience gives you the chance to see more than 70 species of Australian fauna in their natural surroundings.

The paths through Urimbirra allow you to see the animals at close range and a walk through the 16-hectare site is a photographer's delight. Freshwater and saltwater crocodiles are on display, as well as venomous snakes, pythons and lizards.

Located just five kilometres from Victor Harbor on the main Adelaide Road, Urimbirra is an Aboriginal word meaning 'to preserve' or 'to take care of' and there is evidence on the site indicating canoes and shields were made from some of the trees by local Aboriginal groups in the past.

Visitors can interact with a range of animals daily.

Koala shows at 11am, 2pm and 4 pm;

Crocodile feeding at 1.30pm; and

Snake handling displays at 4pm.

  • Went for a morning trip with family and everyone had a great time, especially the little kids. Heaps of animal to see and you can feed the kangaroos too! Take the whole family and have a blast!  more »

  • Lucky us! We managed to see a joey pop out of mummy's pouch. The kangaroos were extremely friendly and we had a great time exploring the whole park.  more »

  • The park doesn't look much from the outside, but don't let first impressions put you off. We're still talking about our visit. The highlight for us was feeding the kangaroos. (Unlike those in Australia Zoo, these have not been overfed to the point of almost exploding). They hop up to you to be fed, and are quite tame. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. 10/10.
  • I loved it, being able to feed the kangaroos and see all the other animal's like koala and peacocks. It can be a really romantic place or a great day with family.
  • Just a lovely peaceful place to visit with the grandchildren. They were able to get close to the animals especially the kangaroos. It is a lovely natural setting and the animals are very relaxed. The koalas were bright and alert. I love coming here.
  • We enjoyed our up close encounters here with the koala, kangaroos, snakes, birds, emus and wallabies. The enclosures do look pretty run down but it looks like they are doing a fair bit of work towards renovations and improvements. We only met one staff member who appeared to be doing everything, but she was friendly, helpful and happy to give us her time.
  • It is a little run down. Worth a visit though. Nice for a walk around and if you want to get up close with some kangaroos and koalas
