Mettam's Pool
Bring the family to Mettam's Pool, located at a popular beach, for a day of recreation and relaxation in and out of the water. The calm waters of this natural pool, sheltered by a number of reefs, are suited to young and inexperienced swimmers and snorkelers, who can take swimming lessons right at the beach. The area abounds in marine wildlife, including starfish and mollusks, which can often be spotted within a few steps from the sand. Although not patrolled by lifeguards, accredited inspectors visit the beach regularly, and close the area whenever there are confirmed shark sightings. The beach then becomes a busy village with picnickers enjoying the sun and building castles in the sand. We were there around 11am, so visibility wasn’t good for any snorkling. However, we had a great swim. Fine soft sand and relaxing (even though it was windy). Definitely going back again

Really lovely place to visit, good for snorkelling and having a dip. Unfortunately it was very windy the day we were there which did spoil it a bit but can certainly see why you would want to go...

Nice beach. Snorkeling is a good experience to see small fish. Depending on low or high tide they are sometimes visible. There are spacious toilets, changing rooms, shower facilities.

If you get the tides (ideally 2 hours after low tide onwards) and wind right..can be totally amazing experience like my photos below. Truly a treasure for Perth.

Love this place! great for snorkeling - perfect for amateurs like me too. Beware there are some sharp rocks about, I like to wear reef boots but it's not essential. Can be a little less windy because it's in a small cove, but still best around 10am - 1pm in Summer
-
Best for snorkelling, other beaches nearby are more suited for casual swimming
-
Good sheltered beach for kids with clear water. Ramps leading down from road for easy access. Just be aware of the rocks.
