Townsville Palmetum, Townsville

4.4
#6 of 10 in Parks in Townsville
Garden Nature / Park
One of three botanical gardens in the city, Townsville Palmetum features only one family of plants: the palm. The garden covers almost 17 hectares (42 acres) and includes a collection of all six palm subfamilies, with a total of over 300 species. See many rare and threatened palms, many of which can only be found in Australia, in their native habitat. The garden’s grassy areas, as well as its water features, attract a wide variety of birds, making this a favorite stop for birdwatchers from around the world. Stop by any time between sunrise and sunset for a walk on the garden’s long boardwalk, which runs through a wetland area and around a small inlet of the river Ross. • A remarkable city by the richness of its activities and the beauty of the landscape a sea 30 ° in January, Billabong Sanctuary Park's a workaround thought to take your swimsuit there is a pool in the park with a shower and toilet for backpackers is ideal! A day on magnetic island was really great hands laid a little paradise! The path passes by ferry from the port price is reasonable we rent a scooter on the island for half a day. Namely for the backpacker! There are the electric barbecue everywhere on the Australian coast and free it's great!

  • Beautiful botanic gardens devoted to palms and frequented by kangaroos and other wildlife. Well worth the visit.
  • These are well maintained gardens with some fantastic picnic areas. The paths are very nice to walk along and are very peaceful. Dogs are permitted on a lead which is great. Well worth the visit.
  • Would be nicer if didn't have the bats, but is still a beautiful garden to visit
  • Peacefull place to chill.
  • It's a nice place for a walk around in the shade of the trees, and it's popular for weddings also.
