Landmark Tourist Spot
One of the city’s most exciting and dynamic areas is Riverway, offering a combination of commercial, cultural, and leisure/sports activities. This riverfront parkland, opened in 2006, stretches for 11 km (7 mi) along the Cross River. The nearby business district, where you can visit a number of trendy shops and cafés, is connected to the parkland area by a pathway stretching along the shore. Enjoy a variety of water sports at the site’s calm lagoon, or drop by the nearby cricket stadium (with a capacity of over 10,000 visitors) to experience the famous Australian game day atmosphere. A convenient arts center and gallery are located in the area as well, hosting regular exhibitions, plays, and concerts. Using our custom trip planner, Townsville attractions like Riverway can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Beautiful walking tracks along the river backing on to the facility. A viewing platform to see all the turtles and watch the water skiing.
  • Love the walk through museum and displays of art. Would love to see a show if the price was a bit cheaper and there were more variety of shows for my family.
  • Nice art center, great public swimming pool, playground and sports field. Really well maintained.
  • Stunning location alongside the river. Free pools and lagoon. Free BBQs. Designed with nature for a wonderful family experience.
  • Small and not top notch work displayed always but pleasant and immaculate.
