Riverway, Townsville

4.5
One of the city’s most exciting and dynamic areas is Riverway, offering a combination of commercial, cultural, and leisure/sports activities. This riverfront parkland, opened in 2006, stretches for 11 km (7 mi) along the Cross River. The nearby business district, where you can visit a number of trendy shops and cafés, is connected to the parkland area by a pathway stretching along the shore. Enjoy a variety of water sports at the site’s calm lagoon, or drop by the nearby cricket stadium (with a capacity of over 10,000 visitors) to experience the famous Australian game day atmosphere. A convenient arts center and gallery are located in the area as well, hosting regular exhibitions, plays, and concerts. • A really great place to walk the dog in the afternoon in the shade of the trees along the waters edge. Looking at the turtles/calm water and enjoying the scenery  more »
  • Here you can go when you want and whenever you want. It's beautiful! You can walk along the River, a barbecue or nadir in the beautiful and clean pools. There is in small café where can buy something to eat or can cross the shopping center where there is everything. Also there is free internet.

  • Great free place to swim. Two large chlorinated pools, one for the big people swimming laps and one for the little kids. Beautiful location, looking out over parks the the river. My favourite place to swim. Can get a little crowded during school holidays, but that's to be expected with a free pool in the tropics!
  • Wonderful area for a picnic and swim. The new fenced kids playground is great!
  • Amazing venue! Absolutely free clean and always life guards. Huge pools one with views of Ross river. Other at least Olympic size. Great facilities too!.
  • Such an awesome community initiative, get among it!!!
  • Great place to swim and cool down
