Loosely divided into a formal rose garden, two hedge mazes, a rain forest walk, and a small aviary, Queens Gardens Townsville is a heritage-listed botanical garden at the base of Castle Hill. Established in 1870, the park was originally meant to be an important part of the city’s long-term plans for the development of the food and farming industry, with extensive plantings of hoop pines and black beans. Some of this original vegetation still grows inside the gardens today, representing some of the oldest cultivated plants in Australia. Extensively redesigned in the 1950s to meet the city’s growing need for more recreational green zones, the park includes sheltered picnic areas, public toilet facilities, and plenty of parking. • Had a lovely yoga and meditation session amongst the luscious greenery of the botanical garden. If yog want to wind down and just relax amongst nature, take a blanket and a book and just be.
  • These gardens include a rainforest area, a cactus garden, a large herb garden, and lawns which lend themselves to events such as outdoor weddings.
  • Beautiful garden with a beautiful Peacock and a few birds, one can observe splendid butterflies of vivid color! Quiet, well maintained
