Island
See one of the world’s most extensive and significant collections of coral at Museum of Tropical Queensland. This museum of natural history and archaeology also keeps artifacts recovered from the wreck of HMS Pandora, which sank off the coast of north Queensland in 1791 after capturing some of the participants in the infamous mutiny on the Bounty. Other notable exhibits include animatronic versions of the world's most famous dinosaurs, such as Tyrannosaurus rex and Queensland’s own Muttaburrasaurus, as well as a typical north Queensland rain forest environment. Bring the whole family to the interactive exhibition of a Great Barrier Reef shipwreck, which is custom-built for families with small children. • Excellent place to visit, there are some fantastic exhibits to see. Have just visited the Dinosaur exhibition which is awesome, the Pandora shipwreck and the Coming to Australia exhibits. There are also some great interactive and educational activities for kids to do. There is a good Cafe with an outdoor area with views overlooking a marina.
  • Perhaps it was because I am not overly excitable about dinosaurs but my husband and I found this museum to be quite lacking for the entry fee. If it was free, I may have enjoyed it more but felt I didn't get my moneys worth.
  • Current exhibition Dinosaur Discovery is very enterteining and amusing, for kids and adults alike. Parts about Pandora ship and Enchanted Rainforest are pretty out-of-date and definitely need some updating. All in all not really breathtaking experience but worth paying AUD15 for about 2 hour's tour.
  • They have really good exhibits for kids and adults. Great place to go to get out of the heat while keeping the little ones entertained.
  • Amazing place. Heaps of differnt things to see
