  • Our guide brought the history of Sarah Island to life, the hardship the prisioners endired and how they fought back. Well worth the time to explore this cornmer of Australia
  • Went on walking tour with a group from the "Harbor Master" Ingrid, our guide, gave a great commentary. It was both informative and witty. We really enjoyed it.

  • Sarah Island is a must see when you visit Strahan, situated in Maquarie Harbour the only way to get there is to go on 1 of the 2 cruise boats, both offer the same sort of tour. Once you arrive there is a guide who will take you on an hour long discovery of the penal settlement and offer commentary and interesting facts about the islands history, you can go and explore by yourself if you like.
  • Australian movie! True story, Van Demons Land about escape from sarah island penal settlement in 1822. All about the history of the time. Well worth watching. :-)
  • Excellent tour of the island provided by the road earth company
  • Crazy how convicts built the islands foundations with blue gums. Hospitable environment for human habitation but very beautiful.
  • Crazy place. Lots of history still there. Sarah island may not be as well known but it is well worth knowing and seeing.
