The Gap Park, Sydney

4.7
#2 of 15 in Nature in Sydney
Warm yellow-colored sheer cliffs and crashing waves dominate the view from The Gap Park. Walk along the scenic cliff top and enjoy the views of Tasman Sea and ships leaving Sydney Harbour. Notice the water dragons hiding among the granite rocks and Pacific Gulls, which use the area as nesting site. Go for a fish meal at a local restaurant, perhaps even one were Alfred Hitchcock was a patron during his visit in 1960s. • Breathtaking views and a must see for the family, parking is nearby and the views at the very top across the heads are worth the walk up. We have young children and they also enjoyed the walk all safe and secure and a great family activity. Recommend to any family
  • A great place to get great views of Sydney sea line, without travelling too far. Unfortunately this picturesque location is also one of the top 10 popular suicide points on Earth. Around 2500 people commit suicide in Australia each year. Don Ritchie, a local who lived just 50 meters from the cliff and passed away in 2012, used to approach people contemplating suicide with a smile and kindness and saved up to 160 lives. He used to invite these people for tea or coffee and saved lives. Awarded Order of Australia, there is also a park in the area named after Don Ritchie.
  • Beautiful view of the coastline and very close to public transport
  • Confronting yet beautiful walks.
  • Great place for a walk
