Sydney Town Hall, Sydney

4.0
Sitting opposite the Queen Victoria building is Sydney Town Hall, one of Australia's grandest surviving buildings, and a stunning example of 19th-century sandstone architecture. You can take photos of the impressive interior and exterior: The details on the roof are particularly striking. The clock, which is illuminated at night, was built in 1883. Once nicknamed The Wedding Cake Building, the building features ornate carvings, beautiful stained-glass windows, and a pipe organ that is the largest in the southern hemisphere. • Amazing place for events. Although the single door can be an issue when exiting because everyone is funneled into one door.
  • One of the best buildings in Sydney. Try and get inside to see the pipe organ, it is a one of a kind. It is a working building so you can't go everywhere but Security and staff are very helpfull.
  • When we knew we would be in Sydney for a few days, the first thing to see was Town Hall. It has a world famous pipe organ (it has a 64' pipe that is only one in world). Unfortunately, they have limited access to the interior of the building, since it is a working building that is rented out for meetings and parties. But, we went to the building to inquire. The guard gave us a phone number to call. We spoke to the man in charge and he was very helpful. We went back the next day and told the guard that we only wanted to look at the organ. Even though they were setting up for a meeting in the room, we were able to see it. The guard that took us back also gave a brief tour of some other areas of the building. Very beautiful inside and such a history! They were very nice to us, since we weren't there at the ideal time!
  • Nice building. Especially at night because of the lights.
  • I received two complimentary oysters with lemon flavoured ice shavings. It was a nice touch. I had the wagyu steak. It was cooked nicely at medium, just the way I like it. The mushroom sauce was full of flavour. The chips was too much! I think should serve at most half of the bowl of chips that I was given. The place was very nicely decorated and very quiet. The steak took quite a long time to come out. I was told while I ordered, still it was longer than expected. Overall, very satisfied. I will definitely be back

Where to stay in Sydney

Sydney offers visitors hundreds of lodging options in its central area, with choices suitable for most budgets. As expected in a major tourist destination, harbor views play a major role in determining room prices. Expect to pay more for ocean-view suites, especially if you visit at the peak of the tourist season or around big city events. If you don't need to stay in the center of Sydney, consider budget-friendly hotels near the airport, or look for smaller roadside motels in the city's South West neighborhood.
