Shelly Beach, Sydney
Categories: Beaches, Nature & Parks, Outdoor Activities
Shelly Beach is the only west-facing beach on Australia's eastern coast. These waters, part of a protected marine reserve, are filled with a variety of sea life, including species of the eastern blue groper, weedy sea dragon, gloomy octopus, and little penguin. Clear shallow waters lapping this beach make it a popular spot for scuba divers and snorkelers. A haven for sun seekers, this coastline is sheltered from the ocean swell by a reef that faces west. For refreshments, drop by Le Kiosk, a small beach restaurant selling light seafood meals, cold drinks, ice cream, and coffee. Bbq area and a quiet beach. Doesnt get heavy surf. A really lovely place.
Great family friendly beach. Tip: join the Bold & Beautiful swim from Manly to Shelly beach at 7am everyday.
One of the best beaches in Sydney. The only west facing beach on the east coast of Australia giving it protection from winds. Great for snorkeling and diving.
Lovely little beach along a beautiful stretch of the coast easily accessible from the city.
Stunning beach, amazing place to go snorkelling, really nice walk to get there
