Manly Beach, Sydney
(4.6/5 based on 4,800+ reviews on the web)
Manly Beach stands as one of the best places to experience Australian beach culture. Captain Arthur Phillip gave the sandy area its name based on his perception of the masculine behavior of the indigenous people he met when he arrived in 1788. Now the long sandy beaches also are home to trendy shops and nightclubs. If you want activity, try surfing, windsurfing, parasailing, snorkeling, or scuba diving. If you prefer leisure, enjoy a picnic on the sheltered beach of Manly Cove. Only 11 km (7 mi) from downtown Sydney, the beach is easily accessible from Circular Quay via regular ferry or fast catamaran. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Sydney holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Manly Beach and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Simply amazing. The area is full of great places to chill and everything looks amazing. The beach is great and some people tried surfing there too. Quite fun to watch!
  • The beach is not bad, there are better beaches in NSW, Australia. The vibe around here is good though. A lot of shops, restaurants and cafes to satisfy most people.
  • One of the very best beaches in Sydney that are more accessible ; would usually have some avid surfers and at night, its a peaceful place for a jog ; amenities nearby are awesome too!
  • Good beach close to sydney... Great food options all around... Great for good family fun...
  • Nice beach, more laid-back than buzzy Bondi. Good for families, beginners surfers, a nap on the sand or a coffee or ice-cream.
