Manly Beach, Sydney

#1 of 583 in Beaches in Australia
Manly Beach stands as one of the best places to experience Australian beach culture. Captain Arthur Phillip gave the sandy area its name based on his perception of the masculine behavior of the indigenous people he met when he arrived in 1788. Now the long sandy beaches also are home to trendy shops and nightclubs. If you want activity, try surfing, windsurfing, parasailing, snorkeling, or scuba diving. If you prefer leisure, enjoy a picnic on the sheltered beach of Manly Cove. Only 11 km (7 mi) from downtown Sydney, the beach is easily accessible from Circular Quay via regular ferry or fast catamaran. • Very spektakulär...eins of the beaches of Australia. See and be seen is the motto here! The ocean is warmer here than on the Bondi Beach...also then nothing as pure! Is also high on the to do list in Australia.

  • One of the beautiful beaches in Sydney. Beautiful view of sunset. A stroll along the beachfront is so relaxing. Amazing cafe and restaurants nearby. Just eat, relax and have fun !!!
  • Manly Beach will always be one of my favourite parts of Sydney. Beautiful beaches, national parks, stunning harbour. There is always something happening from surf carnivals to beach volleyball to jazz festivals and food and wine festivals. Lots of cafes and restaurants.
  • A must see if you are visiting Sydney. Get on the ferry at Circular Quay and go to Manly for the day. Enjoy the shops, beach and take the 15 min walk to Shelly beach. Good cafe and food at Shelly beach.
  • Manly beach is an amazing place for a weeklong holiday. The stores along the beach are amazing. They have Starbucks, Ben and Jerry’s and some lovely restaurants. The beach is safe fun and is a nice place to relax after a week of hectic work. I want to go here frequently and wouldn’t mind living there. I would definitely Recommend to any family looking for a good, relaxing time.
  • What a beach, I had never expected such a calm environment. The place was pretty clean and nice. The best part was the people ; they were so nice and friendly, which made the while experience outstanding.
