Categories: Islands, Historic Sites, Tourist Spots, Nature & Parks
Located on an island in Sydney Harbour, Fort Denison Island once serves as a defensive facility for Syndey Harbour and colonial prison. These days it offers a museum and, with 360-degree views of the Sydney Harbour, a fine place to enjoy a picnic. Head into the fort's sandstone Martello Tower to see a collection of colonial artifacts. If you plan to take a Hop-On Hop-Off cruise, see which of the boats stop at the fort.
