#4 of 23 in Beaches in Sydney
Head to the beach at Clovelly to avoid the crowds on other stretches of sand around Sydney. Locals adore this beach, which sits on the point of a concrete-surrounded inlet, for its calm, clear water full of comfortable and lack of other visitors. Bring your snorkel to check out the underwater action and lay out in the clean sand or along the smooth concrete if you prefer sand-free lounging. You'll encounter the beach along the coastal cliff walk between Bondi Beach and Bronte. You cannot scuba dive here during the day between October and April. • We loved it here and found the rock pools and sunbathing decks to be both very attractive and very enticing. The water was very clear and cool, and my son and I could thoroughly enjoy our swim.  more »
  • We passed through here on our Bondi to Cogee Walk. As with every beach on the route, it was very busy and clearly people were enjoying themselves!  more »
  • One pretty cool thing I see over and over in Sydney is the public beaches that is made to look like swimming pools. Ocean pools they’re called, they are plenty of this across Sydney. This in Clovelly ...  more »

  • The location is great once you get there! If your planning a trip aim for a weekday the parking lot is plentiful (and free) but on weekends it will be full. The life savers will be collecting for the club and its a good idea to support them they do watch you. The beach is cement on both sides of the narrow bay and sand at the end, on the ocean side it's protected by rocks but still gets some swell. Not often clear clean but normally good water quality. A few fish in the deeper parts including larger Grouper.
  • Definitely a great place to spend your day out in sunny weather. There's the beach for a swim and also a snorkel. This is also a great place for a swim if you enjoy wavy or calm conditions and there's plenty of sealife to see when snorkelling. There's small park nearby with a water fountain and a swimming pool that you can enter in the evening. It's also a great pit stop for those that like to jog near the coast.p plenty of parking on site and it's also free!
  • Plentiful parking, awesome place for a picnic or a quick swim. I wouldn't really consider it a beach - due to its size, however there are wonderful food options really close by. Overall wonderful place to spend time with kids or family.
  • I like Clovelly Beach, but primarily as a strange alternative to a conventional beach like Coogee. The long concrete slabs that run alongside the inlet feel quite European, and I imagine reclining on a towel on a slab of concrete is good for your posture. The water is generally clear here and it’s a fun experience - though the rocky bed of the beach conjures in my mind the horror of sea creatures, including that rumoured blue groper. Sea monsters are best seen on a plate, not lurking beneath my feet.
  • Beautiful beach for family and friends, nice for swimming, snorkeling and relaxing. Nice place to spend whole day reading or hide in a tent. Great facilities around the beach.

Where to stay in Sydney

Sydney offers visitors hundreds of lodging options in its central area, with choices suitable for most budgets. As expected in a major tourist destination, harbor views play a major role in determining room prices. Expect to pay more for ocean-view suites, especially if you visit at the peak of the tourist season or around big city events. If you don't need to stay in the center of Sydney, consider budget-friendly hotels near the airport, or look for smaller roadside motels in the city's South West neighborhood.
