#66 of 193 in Outdoors in Sydney
Experience rural idyll just outside of Sydney at Calmsley Hill City Farm. The fully-functioning farm is home to sheep, goats, cows, rabbits, pigs, ducks, and peacocks. Pet and feed animals, ride on a tractor, watch farmhands shear sheep and milk cows, and take in a koala exhibition. You can take a break from the daily schedule of activities by grabbing lunch at the cafe. The farm also offers camping on a limited number of days from October through April. Reserve a few months in advance, though, because sites book up quickly. Put Calmsley Hill City Farm on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Sydney driving holiday planner.

  • We had the best day here on saturday. Every child gets to do the farming experiences if they wish to participate. My kids did them all including milking Custard the cow, bottle feeding the lambs, hand...  more »
  • A much appreciated camping experience for my 3 year old's birthday. Everything was amazing! My kiddies (3 and 5) got so worn out they slept through the roosters calling at 5am and the hungry goats. We...  more »
  • We visited the farm yesterday , I can say it’s one of the best I have ever been . It was easy to go around as it’s not too big , so it’s suitable for young kids who can’t walk too long . It has all th...  more »

  • Only one chance to make a good first impression. . Arrived early and was met by one of the most unfriendly ticket lady working on a kid's place ...maybe she was just having a bad day. . fortunately the rest of the staff were great. Kids loved the animal contact in the animal nursery, milking the cow (by hand) the tractor ride, the whip demonstration and the sheep dog show .. weather was good the day we were there. It's was a good morning ... but quite a long drive from the city
  • Great for toddlers. Animals, playground, animals nursery, tractor ride, picnic areas, all within walking distance. We bought the annual pass as great place to go with kids. Very pleasant for adults as well.
  • Nice with the family. Up close and personal with the animals. Not alot to see but still enough to keep the kids busy for most of a day. Cafe was surprisingly cheap food done the job. Staff are friendly and helpful. I recommend it to familys and will keep it on my to do again list.
  • Bit pricey for entry - $25 for an adult and $15 for a 3yo for not that many animals. The kitchen closed at 130pm for hot food and when we tried to order chips at 12 was told it would be an hour wait, even though there were chips available in the tray. But the kids had fun so I guess it was okay.
  • Great place to get out with the kids. A working farm with a number of shows operating daily and a wide array of farm animals including regional reptiles. Nursery and animal petting/feeding area is always a winner with children

Where to stay in Sydney

Sydney offers visitors hundreds of lodging options in its central area, with choices suitable for most budgets. As expected in a major tourist destination, harbor views play a major role in determining room prices. Expect to pay more for ocean-view suites, especially if you visit at the peak of the tourist season or around big city events. If you don't need to stay in the center of Sydney, consider budget-friendly hotels near the airport, or look for smaller roadside motels in the city's South West neighborhood.
