Where to stay in Sydney

Sydney offers visitors hundreds of lodging options in its central area, with choices suitable for most budgets. As expected in a major tourist destination, harbor views play a major role in determining room prices. Expect to pay more for ocean-view suites, especially if you visit at the peak of the tourist season or around big city events. If you don't need to stay in the center of Sydney, consider budget-friendly hotels near the airport, or look for smaller roadside motels in the city's South West neighborhood.

  • Beautiful space.. really amazing staff super friendly and a great neighbourhood to explore.
  • Gorgeous interior with fantasic gallery staff and beautiful exhibitions curated by Wendy Whiteley, he artist's widow. Definitely do a tour if one's going on while you visit- I learned a lot about the artist's method and inspiration that I wouldn't have known otherwise.
  • Nowadays a very gentrified area, but the studio gives a nice sense of what it might have been like when he lived there. And then there is Brett Whiteley's art, which is best left to the critics to rant about.
  • A nice iconic place to bring visitors. However, no photos allowed inside, and no selfies either, which is a bit anachronistic and makes it impossible to share on social.
  • Went to catch the last day of Other Places Somewhere Else "a visual diary of New York, Fiji, Tokyo, London and Tangier." It also included "Paris from his fist visit at 20 years of age, followed by later Paris series Regard de Cote 1989". Realised later I'd missed the Tangier postcard series, and wondered if they were in this exhibition.
