Fun & Games Sports Complex
Visit Sydney Olympic Park to see where the Sydney Olympic Games were held in 2000. The area was developed for the biggest sporting event in the world, and the facilities continue to be use for sporting and cultural events. A walkway displays all medalists recorded. Olympic Cauldron, which was converted into a water fountain, and Forest of Poles, are best viewed at night. Not just an Olympic legacy, the 23-hectare (56-acre) park is now a commercial development with expansive parklands. • Easy to get to via car or public transport - trains straight to the centre of the precinct. Good parking options, well lit for walking around at night or after events, feel very safe. A lot of accomdation options (although can be pricey, look around for a bargain and book ahead). Great place for seeing events, much better than going into Sydney.
  • Sydney Royal Show again out does itself. I have been attending this event for 60 years and was deeply saddened when it left its old venue for Olympic Park but love it now. The convenience to get to it by car and public transport is outstanding, the facilities once there are even better and the agricultural displays really look good. It should be a fixture on everyone's calendar.
  • Great place to have a wander round and take in the events of the summer of 2000. We wandered into the aquatic centre and watched some junior swimming event. There is also a leisure pool with slides etc. Outside we couldn't get into the main stadium as an event was starting and due to the Easter Show setting up we could get a glimpse of the Olympic cauldron. Plenty of places to eat from fast food to pubs. Worth coming for a wander if you have an hour or so to spare.
  • Do you research re parking before heading to events here! Especially expos. Overall have always found crowd control to be well managed.
  • Best Easter show I have been to in years. The SOP is the best spot for an event like this. Awesome grounds and facilities.
