Learn how the early settlers lived at Pioneer Settlement, a replica of a riverside town. Step aboard the restored paddle steamer Gem and watch shows at Kaiser Stereoscopic Panorama Theatre, one of only three anywhere in the world. Hop on a horse-drawn coach to explore the village made up of 50 cottages and heritage buildings. Steel wheel tractors are the only examples still existing anywhere in the world. The youngest visitors will be delighted at the opportunity to dress up in old-time clothes and taste treats at the candy shop. During the day, relax on the Mighty Murray River with a cruise aboard the PS Pyar. In the evening, a modern sound-and-light show will ensure your journey back in time is a memorable experience. While in Swan Hill we traveled to the Pioneer settlement and we loved it. The paddle steamer was awesome and all of the shops and old time machinery was just amazing to look at. more »
I have read reviews about this place and so many people were negative. We loved it! Walked around the settlement, looked in all the old shops of how they were yesteryear. It took me back to when I was... more »

Relaxing and peaceful walk around the settlement. A few free activities for the kids (make a skipping rope, make butter, etc). Interesting displays set up in each shop. Did the 3-in-1 pass which gets you in to the settlement for a few days, plus the 1 hour long paddle steam boat cruise, and the very impressive night laser light show (opened December 2015). The cafe has reasonably priced meals ($3 chips, $4 hot dog, $8 lasagna and salad). You can dress up in settlement style costume for $5 and they'll take lots of photos for you with your own camera. A great attraction for Swan Hill, and a great way to support the local community.
There were 3 generations of my family here in Swan Hill, I looked on the web for directions only to see the over inflated and clearly discriminate pricing in regards to tourists. Locals get in for a gold coin donation, but if you're a adult tourist you are charged $36.00. This is clear unadulterated discrimination and should be against the law. As a direct result of this discrimination we all decided that NO MATTER what is there it is not worth being extorted for just because we are bloody tourists. So they lost their money and instead we went to the Catalina Museum, which was both cheap, educational and very entertaining. I don't care what anybody says, discrimination should be against the law. So to Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement I say stick it up your 4R53!.
Not much to do there, you will spend most of the day walking around looking at things that are boring before having access to an overpriced and low quality cafe, only good things are car ride and horse and cart ride, and they get repetitive after the first time, the sweet shop is a plus but once again everything is overpriced and not great quality, staff are unhelpful and understaffed, not worth your time and money, your children will become bored and the parents will waste a lot of money on guff that wont be used, the gift shop is just stupidly overpriced, i recently bought a "back scratcher" made of a cheap plastic and had a sticker of the settle meant on it and i was charged $15, even though the quality was only worth $5, if you are going to swan hill, this is worth a visit but you wont spend more than a hour there and you should only go there once, go to sovreign hill in Ballarat, is it at least 10x better.
Awesome ! We spent 5 hours there. Walking around. We went on the PYAP. An amazing experience.
What a lovely place. We had such a great day. Perfect with or without kids.
