  • I went to the Chinatown located in Southport on the Gold Coast for the first time. Certainly Chinese shops are lined up, but doesn't gotegote about Chinatowns in other countries and cities (a little while ago I visited Melbourne, Melbourne is smaller but there were impact) was. Chinese food restaurant is quite in the big shopping center, so way to go was a good impression.

  • Chinese New Year fireworks were awesome and entertainment was fantastic! Firecrackers and chinese dragons but I couldnt get to the dim sim tent because of the long line :( Right now this is more China...  more »
  • This is a work in progress and it's very new. There were lots of people which was great to see. Think the centre stage would be better at the Cnr of Young and Davenport and spread the food stalls out....  more »

  • Loads of restaurants, parking 3 hours free, Asian grocery. Lots of massage places to choose. Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, western , Mexican, bars, bubble tea, desert bar, Philippino, Vietnamese ect .you will find it all there. Love this place will always find something to eat even late at night. Australia fair shopping centre attached to it. Tram stop right outside the main St. Very convenient for all clientele. One a month road gets block off and all business set up food stalls, great vibe however fighting for a seat and overpriced finger food.
  • Rating this as apparently Google thinks i went here. Not sure i even remember a chinatown on the gold coast. Must have been very average if i cant recall it. If you want a better example in Australia obviously sydney or melbourne are a better option.
  • Smaller than I thought it would be but went to watch the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games and had a great time, even though not many turned out.
  • This little end of town is really showing promise to becoming a great lil Chinatown... It is definitely worth the visit if; your a fan of "specialty van" foods (I most certainly wouldn't call this Asian) ... There is a good selection to make it family friendly for all types of people. Ofcourse there are resteraunts spread throughout if your tastes are for a sit down serious meal... I feel its lacking in all the little things... (this is continuously improving) for example: market stalls selling items whether it be toys for kids/ clothes / nic'nac's etc... I feel it lacks in decoration and theme which would bring far more character to the event... there is a whole street wasted towards the aus fair end most times this events on and inside the metro aus fair part ... if little market stalls etc came to the event it would spread out the attraction and surely could only help boost those wonderful little shops inside that stay open but most people never bother to venture down as it seems away from the event...
  • Great night out plenty of places to try new foods meet people good music ...lovely
