The maze of specialty shops set up in Victorian-style, wood-and-red-brick building where South Melbourne Market resides offers everything from fruits to silver jewelry. Open since 1867, the market is Melbourne's longest-running one. Among the many stalls, you'll find fresh produce, internatioal cuisine such as dim sum and Turkish gozleme, gifts, housewares, and men's and women's fashions. You can also learn recipes and techniques in cooking classes that Melbourne chefs regularly host here. • Always been good but now it is even more fabulous with lots of cute bakeries and quirky gifts. Fresh fruit, seafood, deli and meat options are all excellent.
  • One of my favourite markets in the City. Great for food and drink, Shopping and for getting to. The Car parking can sometimes take a while to find spaces in, but it's free for the first few hours. It's also easily accessible by tram from the City. Funky vibe and reasonably priced, makes shopping a whole lot more fun.
  • Awesome market. Has a bit of everything. Fresh food and produce, original products and cafes/food. Always busy when I've been there, but nicely you get 2 hours free parking on market days. Definitely worth a look in.
  • Great market with lots of fantastic fresh food. If you're liking for fresh oysters then this is the place for you! Several retailers sell a good selection of fresh tasty oysters :)
  • Best place in Melbourne for all your food needs. The market has done fantastic stall holders and most offer fantastic produce. One of the best places in Melbourne to get your shopping done. Always a bargain to be had too.
  • First time visiting the place. It has a lot of nice variety of stores - from fresh fruits and vegetables to aromatic bakery, from fashion accessories to kitchenware, and from fresh oysters to local honey and tea leaves. A great place to visit. A lot of locals do their daily grocery shopping there too. Don't forget to get a cuppa from the stores at the side of the market - oh...nice paella too.
