  • This is a very interesting place to visit. There are well informed guides to lead you around and to give you history. Good views too.  more »
  • The Oliver Hill Battery is a wonderfully preserved site due to the volunteers that 'man' it. I am cognisant of WW history, but most of this was all news to me. The size of the guns and the staffing of...  more »
  • Getting up the hill on a push bike was slow going nutshell worth it as the Vista was amazing. The history of the installation is well laid out.  more »

  • When me, my mum and little brother went to Rottnest Island, one of the things we did was go to the Oliver Hill Battery. We road on bikes that we rented to the bass of the hill where we parked our bikes and walked up the hill to the gun. While we waited for our tour to start I looked at the many World War II news clippings such as the Pearl Harbor Bombing. to what I learnt Fremantel was a in-portent harbor and Perth was under threat of a Japanese invasion and the gun was made to keep it safe. The gun is 3 stores. The bottom loaded shells while the top fired them. some of the tour was under ground and the stored shells their and had their dinning room there and many other things.
  • In my youngest years I painted the gun. With olive green paint. And working in the bunker was fun. I reckon you should visit this site. Because there's a bit of historical value here 😀.
  • It is an amazing place with a long history
