Fort Queenscliff Museum, Queenscliff

4.5
A sprawling facility that originally served as part of Port Phillip’s defences, Fort Queenscliff Museum now documents a large part of the recent military history of the area. The aim of the museum is to fully restore the fort in order for visitors to gain an accurate sense of what it would have been like to be stationed at Queenscliff during the colonial era. • Unfortunately they only do one tour a day and we missed it. The girls were a little disappointed but will have to try to visit next time in the area.  more »

  • The views were brilliant even on an overcast day. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. My four year old boy enjoyed seeing all the buildings and guns. A fun experience was watching a container ship make the turn out of the bay as it illustrated the use of the lighthouses. Highly recommended to spend some time here!
  • Fantastic tour. Very informative and happy to answer all questions. Wonderful place of some history to have a look around.
  • Great tour! Very entertaining and informative. Wish they did morning tours on weekends outside of peak season. Only had 2 afternoon tours when i was there.
  • Fantastic informative tour, our guide was entertaining and very knowledgeable. We gained lots of little insights into the history of the fort and the local area. If it's cold and/or windy make sure you wear a warm jacket. Highly recommend this tour - well worth the 1.5 hours, an easy walk around the grounds with one easy set of stairs to negotiate
  • Great guided tour & history... kids still talk about the disappearing gun!
