Stockton Sand Dunes, Port Stephens

(4.6/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Golden waves of sand rise 30 m (98.4 ft) above the sea at Stockton Sand Dunes. Consider renting a four-wheel drive vehicle to drive along the 32 km (20 mi) beach along the dunes. You'll need a permit to drive the car near the water, but the dunes are free for sand trekking on foot. Climb the highest of these dunes for views of the sea, then sand surf down to the beach to relax in the dune's shadow. • At least to a "trick" to tourists as the sled or a 4 x 4 these dunes have nothing fantastic. It is very broad and quite little height. Short for lovers of real beautiful and large dunes, go your way.

  • Was my first time driving on the beach. Was heaps of fun!! Not too busy for a Sunday morning. People that were there were very friendly . Watch out for the quag bike riders leaving though on the gravel road. We were pulled into a bay off the side of the road to reinforce out tyres and was sprayed with rocks as one flew past at a crazy speed. Thats what the sand and dunes is for. Not the gravel road coming in... there were children playing when we went in at the same spot we were stopped at. And there are heaps of blind crests.
  • Amazing views just walking around the dunes, you feel like you travelled to Sahara.
  • Great views
  • Sand boarding experience
