  • We went on a tour with Ric who over a long career knows every inch of the stadium. He was informative, humorous and engaging. He didn't hide anything from us and we really felt a sense of openness whe...  more »
  • Our 2nd visit to the WACA recently and we still don't want to lose the grass bank option. More and more grounds are losing this option for punters these days and it is a shame - it makes the game much...  more »
  • I agree that it is time to move on from the WACA Ground. The facilities are tired and out dated and the shaded areas are very limited.  more »

  • Another (W.A.) Historic Icon (well over 100 years old relegated); it is sad. We're always guaranteed an exciting game (Ashes etc) there too. Hope other ground is as competitive. Michael
  • Not great so far! Good idea to host the Ladies and the men's game on the same day; however not enough food outlets open between the games. The members bar wasn't open and the bar next door only had beer and a few pre mixed spirits, no wine of any type. Could do better
  • Attended the T20 BBL, was a good event with adequate buses for transport to the event. The ground was clean and tidy with minimal rubbish. The WACA ground staff were nice, friendly and willing to help. Medical staff from St John Ambulance provide Event Health Services and were happy to assist to our needs. All this aside, the security staff member that we dealt with was arrogant and inconsiderate to my disabled father who was unable to get to the required seat. This has ruined my experience at the WACA. I am from interstate and will not be going back to the WACA.
  • A piece of history now.. I was fortunate enough to be at the last day of the Ashes test on 14 Dec 2017 just opposite the scoreboard. A boutique ground that has history that sadly has outgrown the population due to it being land locked. Optus Oval will be a lot more comfortable and have the necessary parking to suit the crowds.
  • The WACA stands for: Was A Catnap Awesome. It's said that the stadium was built on an old Emu nest where early settlers would lay to rest during a long day of exploring. The Emu nest could comfortably fit 6 grown men, and a half man or medium size child. The sleep was so deep in the nest and dreams so vivid that some become addicted. People would fight for time in the nest and some would even kill. Therefore, time in the nest was regulated and restrictions placed on how long one was alloys to rest in the nest. To stop people stealing rest, the Mayor of Perth at that time George Leake, built towers around it and place armed men in them... Anyway, this isn't the place for history lessons. It's a decent stadium and will be missed when cricket moves to the new stadium.... Hmmmm, I wonder why they built that stadium where it is.

Where to stay in Perth

When you choose your Perth accommodations, remember that this city stretches over a wide area, which can cause issues for visitors with limited time to sightsee. The best way to remain close to urban transportation is to stay in the central business district or neighboring Northbridge, where you'll also find the greatest selection of hotels. To avoid the center's big crowds and steep hotel prices, consider booking a room in the coastal town of Mandurah, easily accessible by Perth's reliable suburban railway system.
