  • As others have said, this a jumble of buildings and ideas - you need a PHD in geography and political correctness to navigate it. The content, apart from some impressive aboriginal art, is largely...  more »

  • The new museum is architecturally satisfying to look at outside and inside. It's really well laid out and has a lot of space. On the opening weekend crowds were really well controlled which made for an enjoyable and comfortable experience. Whilst the museum and exhibits were fascinating, I felt something was amiss. World history. No museum is really complete without some world history: Egyptian, Roman, Aztec, etc, etc. There were also slightly too many political aspects which could/should have been left out. The museum should be all inclusive and apolitical. Whilst the interactive screens at each exhibit/item piece was well thought out and really interesting with 3D models, I found it annoying that names of animals, plants, fossils, and the like were not within the exhibit next to the subjects behind the glass. If someone is 'hogging' the iPad/touch screen, you need to wait your turn to look up what it is you want to see the name of. Just a little bit backwards on that part. This is otherwise a great museum and well worth the visit with its renovations. Great job to all involved!
  • I always loved the museum before it's renovation and now it is even better. So many galleries to check out with interactive displays and very interesting content. No better place to come in WA to learn about all things Western Australia. There is even a gallery that is still to open. We only had two hours but I would recommend at least four hours to really get the full experience.
  • After a very long closure you can see why. Much work has gone into making the experience fantastic and futuristic, spacious and eclectic -this is one of the best museums I’ve visited globally. Spent an hour there, barely scratched the surface, will come back many times. Particularly impressed with tactile encouragement (see photo) so different to many other museums.
  • Visited this recently reopened museum after major renovation and was pleasantly surprised. Very educational and informative exhibitions with strong focus on indigenous culture with respect to the traditional owners of the country. Especially impressed by how spacious yet well organized it is. There’s something for everyone, the interactive displays should be great for kids.
  • Finally reopened. A very culturally sensitive display which acknowledges the traditional owners of this land. Some fine displays of Australian memorabilia. So much to cover in the short time I was there. I will have to come back again.
